Long Live the Cage Skirt!

If you follow fashion blogs compulsively like I’ve started to do, then you will of course be familiar with the adorable and style savvy Suzy Bubble. She rocks the wildest styles and makes me wish I took about one eight of the fashion risks that she does. Anyhow, a while ago she was lamenting the fact that Acne did not end up producing this great cage skirt that was in their SP08 collection, and low and behold Angie from Headquarters in Montreal (Victoire and HQ are like boutique bffs) stepped up to the plate and made her own, which she mailed all the way over the Atlantic to Suzy in London.

From there it was a total internet whirlwind: It’s not every day that the work of a small Canadian designer who we carry gets featured on a really super popular fashion blog! Go Angie! She also asked Angie to make her a cage dress that she wore to London Fashion Week, which is sooooo rad! Anyhow, Angie sent us our very own cage skirt, in the same floral as Suzy’s version, and it really is as cool as it looks. For the past few months I kept stumbling upon posts about the cage skirt on Style Bubbleand the HQ blog, as well as some street style ones, so I secretly felt this little thrill upon opening the package containing it. It is so amazing that this piece has such a story behind it, and that we are in some small way connected to a bunch of other wonderful people around the world who love the same things as we do! The Blogosphere rocks!
