Complex Geometries

It's hard to keep up with all the new things we are getting in, so this might be old hat if you've been in the store lately, but last week we got a new shipment of Complex Geometries SS10 and holy cow, do we ever love it!

My favourite is the Scewed Square Tee which is 84 dollars and has an amazing razor back cut that you can't really see in this photo.

We also have the Censor tank for $96 that can be worn lots of different ways and we have it in black.

And we also re-ordered the sad rainbow tee in heather grey and black and it's $76.

We have many more styles not pictured here, including this amazing black leggings onesie that has a bodysuit you can fold it up or down depending on what you layer it with. Really complicated to explain but looks amazing, especialy with crop tops for summer!

Make your home sweeter!

Wood plaques (we have 4 different ones!) $20

When we were in the process of opening up the West Wellington location, we got really excited about having a place where we could bring in really special housewares. There is nothing better then having a beautiful space to come home to, and we are really excited to provide you all with little treasures to integrate into your personal space. And since we know you are blowing your budget on clothes and pony rides, we are bringing in really well priced treasures!

"They say life's what happens when you're busy making other plans. But sometimes in New York, life is what happens when you're waiting for a table."

We just got back from a whirlwind buying trip in NYC. We saw some really beautiful things (FW10 is gonna be a classy season! Lots of muted colors and pretty patterns). We also ate lots and lots of delicious food. Honestly, you wouldn't believe it but we really did stick to 3 meals a day. We just had really great meals, and only took pictures of food. We are definitely not photo-inclined, but I swear we did more then just eat in nice restaurants on this trip (...we also got a lot of midnight snack take-out for the hotel room (the forth meal of the day no one talks about)).

Our trip started on a very somber note. Our favorite restaurant to which we have been going every trip for the last 10 years closed down. No sign explaining, just a gate. The recession never hit us so hard. We were devastated. Where will we get apple fritters and grits?

Our savior (and favourite person on the planet) Scott quickly found us a place we could eat cupcakes and spagat for breakfast.

Then we went to a zillion appointments while Nick and Scott went off and did what boys do in NYC (tacos, the Chrysler building, skateboarding, the MET, beers). We met back up for a Cuban fiesta, thank god we had our Canadian passports and were let in!

Besides eating amazing things, like doughnuts... No besides actually, these doughnuts were fantastic! We really enjoyed them, especially when we ate them again in the hotel room.

Before the doughnut memories distracted me I was gonna say we also did some great antiquing. Saw lots of things that were pretty. Also saw a man kick one of his employees for selling something too cheap (see NY still has a dangerous edge!). Though mostly we stuck to the fancy flea market in an old bank.

There we also had delicious grill cheeses! Look how happy we look, happy full tummy girls! Lord, with all this eating you would swear one of us were pregnant! Though that would only explain it if we both were and Nick too, since we all kept up.

We also saw some old toys that got us really excited to come home and start planning our West Wellington grand opening party (mark your calendars March 27th!).

We got homesick when we saw this handwritten poster and thought of the chicken-scrawl penmanship of our girls. So we grabbed some tacos, gyros, fancy chocolates, oranges, and Sun-chips and headed back to Canada.

Yeah New York. Yeah Big Apple!

Here are just a few of the goodies that Katie and Reg brought home from NYC this week:

Species by the Thousands sweatshirts for 70 bucks

Erica Weiner Freewheelin' necklace for 39 bucks

Species by the Thousands 70's guy tee ( I think he looks quite like Rasputin!) for $49

And finally more In God We Trust sweet nothings necklaces with new sayings like "hot mess", "in it to win it", "lucky bitch" and "wish you were here".

Crown Jewels

What would Victoire be without its great collection of jewellery? We can proudly say, "yes! we do carry that Stirling silver tentacle necklace", or "Of course we have those John and Jackie commemorative pendants you were looking for".

Our Westboro store isn't any different! Actually, it may even have a better jewellery display. Next time you're in ask for the story behind the instrument on the bottom right! It is pretty interesting and involves an elaborate door to door grift scheme.

Just a little taste of what we have in store for you.

Steel Magnolia necklaces. BFF half heart 29$, Fool's Gold $39

In the winter I take up knitting for two weeks

Every winter my inclination to craft mixes with my inclination to be warm and I attempt to knit something. This phase is always short lived and I have yet to produce anything functional. I mostly end up with oddly shaped rectangles. This year, my friend Josh (who is a great knitter) crafted the most beautiful neck warmer and hand muff set. I was extremely impressed. I am also very impressed with Mark Newport! I don't know him personally, but I stumbled upon his site a while back, and was blown away with his knit costumes! Wouldn't it be nice to just jump into one of these great onesies on a cold February morning?

Argyleman! (my personal favorite)

Daredevil

Spiderman

Batman

I strongly urge you guys to visit his site and read his artist statement. I enjoyed it.

P.S. Josh, feel free to make me an Argyleman onesie whenever you get the urge.

Cinder + Smoke

Another new amazing line for us this season is Cinder + Smoke, made with love out of Edmonton, Alberta. Her pieces have all the charm of an amazing vintage find with the quality fabrics and flattering cuts of a designer piece. I think you can see from these photos why her things mesh so well with the whole vibe of the store!

Jasmine Blouse for $116

Dahlia Dress with recycled leather belt for $178

Calla dress for $180

Bluebelle dress with recycled leather belt for $178

And finally, the Posey dress for $184

And the Oscar goes to...

Very Mary-Kate, Episode 1 from Mary-Kate Olsen on Vimeo.

Two things Victoire loves: web parodies and the Olsen twins. Combine them and pure gold. I sincerely hope that MK enjoys these, 'cause they really are well done and delightfully silly!

This is my favorite episode (SO FAR!):

Quality of uniqueness

We like it when our designers go on winter sun holidays and come back ready to send us big shipments of new stuff after their deep relaxation. That is exactly what the talent/brains behind Broondoor did and we are thankful for it. Now we have all sorts of new goodies for you all to lust over!

Remember, don't fall for one of the pieces shown. Each of his designs are unique, and you will just have to come into both our shops to see which one captures your heart.

Made entirely of recycled material in Montreal, you know Broondoor outfits Mother Nature. And she has bitch'n style!
