I've spent most of the morning steaming the vintage lingerie collection and I must say, there are tons of really amazing pieces. Varied too! We've got little sweet things, sexy things, naughty things, and many pieces that make pretty convincing outerwear.

Even if lingerie isn't your thing, you should stop by on October 9th! We'll have sales on our regular fall stock and vintage pieces like this really aren't to be missed. One of my favorite things to do is to take little glimpses into the past, and spend time admiring and appreciating things that I wasn't born in time to experience. I can vouch and say that every piece I've looked is like a little fossil that speaks volumes about the quality and values important to its respective era.

But enough about my nerdy rambling, "show us the goods!" you say?

See you then!

old school love

Right outta NYC, Erica Weiner's line of jewelery has been a staple in the shop for quite sometime, as long as we can keep it in stock of course. Erica's mysterious and old-timey vibe works for Fall bringing us bracelets, earrings, rings and necklaces in steels and tarnished golds that compliment the season so well! We are all stocked up with customer favorites like the gumball rings and vintage studs but we've brought you some new goodies that are especially spooky and neat-o...

like this fragrance oil locket combination that comes with pieces of fabric which go in the locket after you dab them with your choice of included oils, Foxhunt based on an antique formula for laying trails in drag hunting or Empress Jingu inspired by a Japanese Imperial ruler. It's $139 at the Wellington shop.
These vintage witch makers vials carry tiny living moss that feeds of charcoal in the bottom of the vial. This necklace is actually like having a delicate little garden around your neck that needs a droplet of water every now and then and can be re-planted to start a larger terrarium...$44

These bracelets come in gold or silver and bare names like Carmen, Sally or Heidi. A loved one? A best friend? A sassy alter-ego? It's up to you! $15

Erica found an especially delicate looking branch during a hike through New York's Catskill Mountains and chose it to be cast as a bangle that comes in 14k gold ($110) or silver ($88).
These earrings are designed after intricate Japanese gingko leaves, $35
A sharpened and spring loaded pocket knife about 1" long should keep those relentless suitors at bay...$50.

That's only a sample of all the Erica Weiner we've got right now at both locations but while your at it check out Erica's blog!

p.s. this morning we sent out our official facebook invitation to the Some Like It Hot: Vintage Shoe & Lingerie party we are throwing in collaboration with Aunt Olive's and Le Chatte Bottee on October 9th, so click on this link and you can virtually RSVP and invite your girlfriends at the same time!

bundle me up.

This morning was the morning that Summer's end finally hit me when I realized a jean jacket alone just wasn't going to cut it. As I biked to the store, wind whipping into my armpits and chilling me to the core I couldn't help but briefly long for the moment in which i would be arriving home and snuggling down into my coziest clothing. It use to be that cozy, didn't always meet cute and I'll be the first to admit that I prefer not to run to the store to get milk for my hot chocolate while wearing pants with NHS CHEER 09! scrawled across the bottom. But this season I have never been more excited to get cozy because it seems that a number of our designers are eager to please our wardrobe aesthetic along with our quickly dropping body temperatures.
Audrey Cantwell hooded cloak, $140
Jules Power heather sweatpants, $128
Hidden Spectrum flannel shirt, $174. Wellington shop only.
Mink Pink sweater, $92, both locations.

Jules Power fleece wrap sweater, $168, Wellington only.

Best accessorized with; loving pets, best friends, significant others or anything/one else worth cuddling up with!

Excited for Anthology!

Blogs are beyond terrific but you can't read them in the bath tub, or on the bus, or leaf threw one while sitting threw a lecture from your dad about the infinite greatness of atomic energy (got a good dose of this last night!), in all these cases you need a magazine. We are so lucky in Ottawa to have Mags & Fags and I am super excited for this gem to hit there shelves:

So this morning I was at St-Vincent de Paul trying to squeeze myself into a pair of vintage leather pants. (This is definitely one of the best parts of walking to work at the Westboro store, I can sneak in some quick thrifting!) But it just wasn't happening. There was no way I was getting into those things without disastrous results a la that episode of Friends where Ross gets stuck (remember that one Nick?)

Leather pants or no, one thing is for certain about my Fall look, and this is true pretty much every Fall: I'm gonna try and be a little bit more bad-ass and take some risks. I think Valerie Dumaine was on the same wavelength, in fact she usually is. For me, the Summer is for pretty, vintagey, romantic dresses, and then in the Fall WATCH OUT - Valerie usually turns something out with at least a little sex & danger & don't-mess-with-me-ness. And I am really loving all of it.

Like this dress, which was one of those "season defining" dresses for me. So simple, the construction speaks for itself and it perfectly walks the fine line between modest & hella sexy. Vincenza, 175$, available in black at Dalhousie and a crazy cool houndstooth (exclusive to our shop!) at Westboro

Another leap I want to take this Fall is into more BOLD prints! And Valerie hit the nail on the head with her prints this season. Enna, 175$, available at both locations

Am I right about the amazingness of this print?! The colour combo is so unbelievably cool I can barely stand it. Astrid, 179$, available at both shops

And I might not have been able to squeeze into those leather pants, but who needs them when there's a dress like this? Siena, 185$, available at Dalhousie

Could you BE any cuter?!

My best bets...

Both shops are absolutely stock full of fall deliveries. It's very exciting and impossible to keep up with all the daily changes to 'my favorite' list. These three DACE items are pretty solidly on there:

Penny, $270

Dana in black, $150

Connie, $250

To thaw your hearts in wintertime...

Its been a really busy day here in Westboro, and the reactions we've been getting about to our new fall stock have been so encouraging. Its hard to be around all of this new fall stuff without feeling inspired, so thus a new display is born. I guess I was feeling woodsy? Who knows. I was listening to this on repeat though.

Oh Siouxsie. I've got such a girlcrush on you. We're actually kind of wearing similar outfits. Minus the shorts but we've got a pair of Audrey Cantwell leather tap shorts ($115) that would work PERFECTLY as pictured here:

Oh man.

Anyway, this post is all over the place BUT we're open 12 -5 tomorrow and ya'll should stop by and say hi!
