Guest blog post: Angie Johnson

We are so thrilled to be sharing this with you. Angie loves vintage lingerie and we love love love Angie so I hope you can feel at home all the loving happening in this post! Angie is the talent behind Norwegian Wood and is the person that taught us so much about the internet.....  Like in general, THE internet! So big thanks to Angie, now we don't need to keep encyclopedias around the office. We still do, but only cause they are so pretty! In honour of our Vintage Lingerie Pop-Up Shop (starting next Monday the 6th!), we asked a few of our favourite designers to share with us their favourite pieces of vintage lingerie from their personal collections. Stay tuned for more blog posts in this series to come!

"I started wearing vintage clothing when I was about 12 and realized that the combination of my grandmother's hoarding tendencies combined with the fact that she had 7 kids (my aunts and uncles) meant that her entire basement was full of their old clothing from the 60s and 70s. As a fashion obsessed pre-teen with babysitting as my sole source of income, this realization opened up my fashion world in a way the mall never could and was the beginning of a lifelong love of all things vintage. One of my earliest obsessions came in the form of vintage slips. This was the early/mid 90s and Courtney Love, Drew Barrymore and pretty much everyone else was running around in vintage slips and combat boots, including me. Over the years though I've found that vintage slips come in handy in countless layering situations, leading me to snap them up whenever I find one with a great detail and great fit. I currently have a whole slew of classic slips from the 50s and 60s but have recently also been picking up 70s maxi slips. The burgundy colour and chevron lace inserts were what sold me on it, and I love to layer it over black leggings and a black and white striped breton shirt.....with combat boots." -Angie
